These Days

Today has been a hard day. I woke feeling out of it and needing to get out the door. Struggled to keep my heart in whatever it was I was doing. Felt frustrated, tired, annoyed, overwhelmed, like a failure. Didn't want to read my bible. Didn't want to pray. Didn't want to ask the Lord's help for my stinky attitude.

Now the girls are in bed and I "made it" through the day and am looking forward to going to bed soon.

I just had two weekends in a row of some really wonderful spiritual enrichment: our church's women's retreat and a conference with our high school girls. Both weekends provided me with opportunities to be reminded of God's work in and through me. He reminded me that He's got it under control and He wants me to trust Him.

But today? Uh. Fail.

Thinking of Psalm 51 (I know this is about David's sin with Bathsheeba, but how often do we grieve over "little" sins??)
"Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit" (vs. 9-12).
Today I'm reminded that I'm not home yet. But I so look forward to heaven.
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.' And he who was seated on the throne said, 'Behold, I am making all things new.' Also he said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true'" (Revelation 21:3-5).
Until that day, I pray that on these days I'll get my bad attitude out of the way and let God use me for His glory.

Hey, sister I know how that feels. It means we are spiritually alive because we experience the pain of being in "this flesh" as Paul put it. Yes, we long for the day of redemption! Till then we depend on Him even when we feel like failures.

Um, are we living the same life right now? I feel like your blog from a few weeks ago was pretty much the about the same thing. God has really been smacking my upside the head about my stinky attitude lately. You should read the two blogs i just wrote (yesterday and today) if you get a chance. I miss you a ton and love you a ton and a half!! ;)
